Positioning itself outside conventional gender identities, the research of queer by Ruben Montini (born Oristano, 1986. Lives and works in Berlin) constantly pushes towards a revision/subversion of the moulds, weaving a subtle and coherent thread that has unfolded through it’s anti-establishment modus operandi since its first performance, investigating the theme of gender identity, sometimes even employing an ironic citationist mechanism.
The performance Atteggiandomi a gran signora – Bellissima, presents a classical dance lesson taking place in an intimate and relaxed atmosphere, in which the artist learns to follow a series of extremely feminine movements, to the notes of an iconic Italian light music song, performed live by a baritone, as if it were an operatic aria. The audience is invited to take part in the performance in a free but ordered manner, as if it were entering, on tiptoe, an intimate and familiar environment.
